  • And 2010′s winner for the apps store race is…

    0

Distimo has recently published a report about the App Stores growth.

    App Store vs Android Market

This will not come as a surprise but overall Android has benefitted from the most apps published with the whole store growing by 544%. Despite being an Apple fan, I firmly believe in the future of Android. With so many manufacturers embracing Android thereby increasing its consumer exposure, it won’t be long before Android matches Apple’s inventory figures. Currently Apple still leads the way with 300,000 apps by doubling its contents in 2010 followed by Android’s 130,000 apps growing its number by 6 times as much. At this rate, Android will overtake App Store’s inventory of apps in 2011. This shows that developers have favoured Android more in 2010 and I can’t wait to relish the prospects of what 2011 will hold for the Android market.

  • facebook’s missing privacy settings

    0

Within the last couple of years, facebook has been trying to improve its privacy settings. Is it enough? Privacy is a big issue not only on the web but even in real life. The most vulnerable areas of your facebook account are your status and wall.

Status updates are a great way to keep friends up-to-date with all the latest happenings in your profile but so are strangers. One common status update seen on facebook would be something that sounds like this “Wooooohoooo Las Vegas here I come baby…“. Sounds familiar! Status updates like this are more likely to lead to burglars becoming aware of your absence from home. Should I say that some people do add people randomly, even the ones they don’t know. Having a huge number of friends in their profile makes them look cool from their pespective. Sure you can easily disable everyone from seeing your status updates via the privacy settings but the status update is linked with posts as well and disabling this disables viewing of all your posts, including those you make on other people’s wall and pictures, something I am sure people would not be too keen on. Location based updates using facebook’s places are also a potential threat to giving away your location.

  • blog will be back online soon…

    0

    Hello,

My web server got taken down last night. However, I have managed to get everything up and running again by switching to a new web hosting provider who managed to get everything up and running in less than 2 hours. Thanks GoDaddy!

I will be restoring the website soon. Luckily I have saved my previous posts but I have lost one which was about App Store revenues, which I will have to rewrite again from scratch.

If you would like to know when the site is up and running at full speed, then add me on twitter @dharmeshsb and I will tweet when it’s up again.

    See you soon.
